It is a good printer for black and white copies. The photos are a little bit disappointing
What counts as 'easy to set up' is clearly specific to each person. Knowing that I can not find the configuration of the printer easy or intuitive - I'm really a Newtonian trying to survive in this digital world - I asked a technophile engineer friend to help me develop everything. He has configured many printers, made many complex hardware changes, and so on. However, the configuration and operation of the printer took a while. My friend thought that some of the directions and choices were far from simple. I found it quite frustrating.
The good news is that the printer works. It does a good job copying and printing monochrome documents, which I need at the most. It is quite easy to print photos with this hp envy printer, but the results are less than fabulous. I take many pictures of vegetation, including various cacti and succulents in situ in my friends' gardens, in botanical gardens, etc. And the prints are not as clean as those produced by our old Canon. I also understood that this printer looks like an ink monster.
It is a relatively inexpensive printer. It is therefore unrealistic to expect that this will produce high quality (or even medium-high) photo impressions.

Terrible photocopy printer
I am extremely disappointed with this hp envy printer. The print quality is poor. As far as "the cartridges are cheaper", I am so disappointed to discover that I replace them constantly. I am not a big user; one or two pages a day.
The final straw is jam. I use all the toner and configuration instructions from HP, etc., but this damn thing is stuck in a constant state.
I'm really sorry I donated my Canon Pixma. I did not know how much I had it.
It gets worse every day. I was just trying to make a simple black-and-white copy of a W-2 today, and the whole computer screen went crazy. I had to turn off and on again.
I am also short of ink. Again and again. After I was trying the expensive "XL" size. What a waste of money and time this printer has been.

I liked HP printers before, but now I'm disappointed
I have been a fan of HP printers for years. I had a few and I always recommended them. I even ended up loving their photo creation software.
This hp envy photo 7855 printer, on the other hand, is a piece of fancy junk. Everything is configured with automatic updates and everything else is completely up to date. Every time I print, my blue screen is frozen on a strange blue screen, I have to shoot the power to restart it to make it work.
I'm now trying to print Christmas cards on HP 4x6 photo paper, and everything went well. Now I am told to load 4x6 paper, but this is already in the 4x6 photo tray. To top it off, I try to solve the problem and it freezes again.
